This good value, Machu Picchu trek will make you follow the steps of the early explorers while enjoying many fun activities.
The four day and three night adventure will take you through a fantastic historical journey and breathtaking sceneries. There are many treks to Machu Picchu but this four day three night Inca jungle trek is definitely the most fun and exciting.
Day 1: Cusco to Abra Malaga and Santa Maria - Biking and rafting
We will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 am and start our comfortable journey towards the sacred valley of the Incas. We arrive at Ollantaytambo where we start our adventure. There is an optional breakfast followed by a visit of the city and mayan site.
We then continue to the highest point of our tour: the mountain pass of Abra Malaga (4,316m) where the fun begins - the biking tour! You will receive all your biking equipment, bikes and safety instructions before we start our 2.5 hour descent through the jungle, villages and stunning surrounding scenery. Our bike journey finishes at the archeological site of Huaman Marq´a. From there, your private transportation will take you on short ride to Santa Maria, where a well deserved lunch of typical dishes will be waiting.
In the afternoon, you will be able to make a choice between taking a small trek to the eco lodge or go white water rafting down to the lodge. This new adventure will take you on a Class III and III+ river, with exciting speed and some turbulence, but all controlled by experienced guides. (Please note that depending on the season and the level of the water, the rafting activity might be cancelled for security reasons.)
The whole group will meet at the lodge for a hearty dinner, surrounded by natural beauty.
Day 2: Santa Maria to Santa Theresa - Trekking and Hot Springs.
Day 2 is when the real trekking begins. After a delicious breakfast, we will start our hike to the town of Santa Rosa. Walking along the original Inca trail, you will pass through amazing scenery, witnessing the richness in fauna and flora of the area.
After two and a half hours we will reach the town of Quellomayo where we will have lunch and get some well deserved rest in the hammocks. After the break we will restart the trek for two and a half hours, crossing many rivers and farms along the way.
Day 2 may be the toughest day of our journey but you will be rewarded by a relaxing warm bath in the incredible natural hot springs of Santa Theresa. After the springs we will reach our lodge for the night and share dinner together.
Day 3: Santa Theresa to Agua Calientes - Zip Lining and Trekking
After an early start and a good breakfast you will choose between a 3 hour hike or zipline across the canyons (2 hours). Whether you choose to trek or fly, the entire group will come together for lunch.
After the break we continue trekking for 2 hours along the train tracks to reach the town of Agua Calientes, the home of Machu Picchu. At 4p.m. you will have completed your Inca Jungle Trek. You can relax, enjoy a nice dinner and good night's sleep.
The best is yet to come: the mystical Machu Picchu awaits.
